Product Processing
1. Pre-treatment of Substrate
Fabric selection: High-strength polyester/cotton blended fabric (common weight range 200-300 g/m²) is selected. The base material must pass tensile strength (≥120 N/cm) and elongation at break (≤15%) tests before entering the factory.
Surface cleaning: Remove grease and dust from the surface of the fiber cloth by high-pressure plasma cleaning or solvent wiping to improve the impregnation of the adhesive.
Corona treatment: Corona activate the substrate to increase the surface tension to more than 50 dyn/cm to ensure the adhesion of the adhesive.
2. Adhesive Preparation and Coating
Emulsion preparation:
Solid acrylic resin is mixed with organic solvent. Ethyl acetate is one example. Or use water-based acrylic emulsion with no solvent. Adjust the solid content to 40%-60%.
Precision coating:
Use a comma scraper or micro-embossed applicator. Apply the adhesive evenly to one side of the fiber cloth. Keep the thickness within ±0.02 mm.
Change the coating speed based on the adhesive viscosity. The standard speed is 10-30 meters per minute.
Pre-drying:
The coated material goes through a hot air zone. The temperature is 60-80°C. This removes most of the solvent for solvent-based adhesive. It removes most of the water for water-based adhesive.
3. Composite and Curing
First lamination:
Put a release film on the semi-cured adhesive. The film is usually PET. It has a peel strength of 5-10 g/in. Press with rollers. This makes sure the film sticks well. No bubbles form.
Reversed coating and lamination:
Turn the material over. Do the coating and pre-drying again on the other side. Then add release paper to the second adhesive side. The paper can be kraft paper. Its weight is 80-120 g/m².
Primary curing:
The full tape goes into a curing chamber. It stays there at 40-50°C for 48-72 hours. The adhesive fully cross-links. It reaches its final bonding strength.
4. Post-processing and quality control
Cut and Re-roll:
The wide-format master roll (standard width 1.2-1.6 m) is cut into customer-specified widths (e.g., 10 mm, 15 mm, 50 mm) using a rotary blade slitter.
During the unrolling process, the meter calibration and tension control are performed simultaneously to ensure neat winding.
Online inspection: The CCD camera automatically detects surface defects of the tape (such as uneven adhesive layer, bubbles, impurities).
Performance sampling: each batch is sampled and tested for key parameters such as stripping strength, adhesion, and temperature resistance. Only after meeting the standards can it be packaged.
5. Packaging and Storage
Inner packaging: Each roll of White Double Sided Duct Tape is individually wrapped in OPP film to prevent dust contamination.
Outer packaging: PE wrapping film is added inside the carton to prevent moisture, and the box is labeled with specifications, batch number, length (in meters), and production date.
Storage conditions: 15-30℃, 40%-60% humidity, avoid direct sunlight.
