Single Sided Duct Tape, as the name suggests, is a type of tape that uses textile fiber cloth as the base material, is coated with high-strength adhesive pressure-sensitive adhesive (such as rubber-type or acrylic-type) on one side, and retains the original color of the cloth base or undergoes special treatment on the other side.
It can be regarded as a roll of "super-adhesive fabric". Its core features derive from its base material:
Base Material: High-strength cotton cloth or chemical fiber cloth that is not easy to tear, endowing the tape with excellent tensile strength and flexibility.
Adhesive: Usually high-viscosity rubber or acrylic adhesive, which can firmly adhere to various surfaces.
Release Layer: The back is usually impregnated or coated to facilitate unwinding and prevent adhesion between layers.
Due to its high strength and durability, it is often hailed as the "King of Industrial Tapes".
With its outstanding performance, single-sided cloth-based adhesive tape is widely used in the following fields:
Heavy-duty Carton Sealing: Especially suitable for sealing cartons for heavy-weight and long-distance transportation, which is far more secure than ordinary plastic tape.
Joining and Reinforcement: Connect multiple cartons or panels together, or reinforce the corners and seams of cartons to avoid damage during transportation.
Carpet Fixation: Temporarily or permanently fix carpet edges.
Pipe Wrapping: Wrap insulation cotton and seal pipe joints.
Protective Shielding: Cover doors, windows, floors and other areas that do not need to be contaminated during spraying or painting (use shielding cloth-based tape with moderate adhesion that leaves no residual glue after peeling).
Waterproof Covering: Used to cover construction site materials to prevent rain damage, featuring strong adhesion that is not easy to be blown open by wind.
Wire Harness Binding: Bundle and fix internal wire harnesses of vehicles.
Interior Panel Fixation: Temporarily fix interior panels, carpets and other components.
Surface Protection: Protect the body paint during vehicle transportation or production.
Home Repair: Repair outdoor items such as tents, suitcases and canvas bags.
Temporary Fixation: Fix posters, drawings, or be applied to various craft projects.
To select the right single-sided cloth-based adhesive tape, you need to consider the following key parameters based on your specific needs:
Thickness: Usually measured in "silk" or "μm" (micron). The thicker the tape, the stronger it is and the higher its tensile strength, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications.
Material: Cotton fabric offers excellent softness, while synthetic fabrics (e.g., PET polyester) have high strength and corrosion resistance. Choose according to the required flexibility and strength.
Rubber-type Adhesive: The Single Sided Duct Tape has high initial viscosity and can generate strong adhesive force immediately after bonding, with good adhesion to most surfaces. However, it has poor heat resistance and aging resistance, and may leave oil residue on the tape edges after long-term use.
Acrylic-type Adhesive: Its initial adhesion strength is low, but the bonding force will gradually increase over time (usually 24-72 hours) and eventually exceed that of rubber-type adhesive. It has excellent heat resistance, UV resistance and solvent resistance, with little aging and residue, and is the first choice for outdoor and high-temperature environments.
Color: Common colors include black, gray, green, beige, etc. You can choose according to aesthetic needs or the requirement of matching the background color. For example, Black Single Sided Duct Tape is more dirt-resistant, and Green Single Sided Duct Tape is often used for carpets.
Residue-free Masking: Designed for spray painting masking, it can be removed without damaging the surface or leaving permanent marks.
For daily household use and short-term heavy-duty packaging, rubber-type adhesive tapes are recommended for quick adhesion.
For outdoor use, high-temperature environments and long-term fixation applications, acrylic-type adhesive tapes are recommended for better durability.
If high strength and tear resistance are required -> select tapes with thick and dense base materials.
For spray painting masking, use dedicated masking cloth-based tapes.

| Physical Characteristics | • Thickness: Typically between 0.13 mm and 0.45 mm• Tensile Strength: Depending on the base material and thickness, it can withstand a tensile force of 50 to 150 newtons per centimeter or more• Elongation: Below 10%, with good dimensional stability |
| Adhesive Type | • Rubber-type: High initial adhesion and strong adhesion to various surfaces• Acrylic-type: Features heat resistance (can withstand 100°C for extended periods), UV protection and anti-aging properties |
| Main Applications | • Packaging: Heavy-duty carton sealing and seam reinforcement• Construction: Fix carpet edges, wrap insulation layers on pipes, and shield areas during spray painting• Industrial: Wire harness bundling, temporary component fixation, and surface protection |
| Performance | • Base Material Strength: The textile base material provides tear and puncture resistance• Surface Adaptability: Can adhere to paper products, wood, metal, plastic and walls• Environmental Resistance: Acrylic adhesive has heat resistance, solvent resistance and UV resistance |
| Selection Reference | 1. Select According to Environment: Rubber-type for indoor/short-term applications; acrylic-type for outdoor/high-temperature/long-term applications2. Select by Strength: Choose base material thickness and density according to load requirements3. Surface-specific Selection: For paint surfaces or wear-prone areas, use low-viscosity masking formulations |
Good Tensile Strength: Thanks to the base material, it is extremely strong, not easy to tear, and can withstand the pulling force of heavy objects.
Strong Adhesion: Can firmly adhere to the surfaces of cardboard, wood, metal, plastic, walls and other materials.
Excellent Flexibility and Conformability: Just like cloth, it can be bent and folded at will, and can fit closely to irregular surfaces.
Easy to Tear: No scissors or utility knives are needed; it can be easily torn by bare hands, making it very convenient to use.
Strong Durability: Especially the acrylic adhesive type has good weather resistance, high temperature resistance and aging resistance, with a long service life.
Dual Functions: It can be used both as an adhesive material and a structural reinforcement material (e.g., attached to carton seams to enhance compressive strength).
Easy to Mark: The surface can be directly marked with markers.
